70% of Cancers could be prevented by a change in diet and lifestyle. Obesity is a key factor in the development of cancer because the most inflammatory cell in the body is the fat cell. Sugar (insulin) can also directly feed the growth of tumors. On the flip side, foods such as turmeric (circumin) and ginger have some of the most anti-inflammatory molecules found in all of nature!

Infectious disease has always come with the changing seasons. Influenza, pneumonia strep throat, the common cold, and now COVID-19. It is vital that we look toward evidence-based nutritional methods for lowering the risk of contracting a number of potential infections. Before diving into this, I want to note that this advice is meant to be used for educational purposes only and should not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

Meet Noel

As a very curious, active and determined (some may say stubborn) kid who was told that I had Crohn’s Disease at 13 years old, understanding more about my diagnosis became one of the key motivators behind my choice to ultimately pursue a career in Functional Nutrition.

For years I have researched my condition and aimed to learn the best ways to support my body in optimal health. After many years of trial-and-error, various medications and, to be honest, attempts at ignoring the diagnosis altogether, I found myself going back to school to pursue a Master's of Science in Human Nutrition.

I would be lying, however, if I told you that my diagnosis was the driving factor behind the creation of Nutrition with Noel. It is because of the people I get to meet who show up wanting better for themselves. NwN exists to provide solutions for struggles that others thought they may never find answers to, and to help the lightbulb go off as a person realizes his/her own ability to create lasting lifestyle change. It is an honor to watch clients take ownership of their health and step into all that they were created to be with a new and improved quality of life.

I believe that food is medicine, that the preparation of delicious meals should be fulfilling, not overwhelming, and that an effective nutrition plan brings rewarding solutions and compromises rather than restrictive complications to the table. As a lover of movement, cooking, learning and connecting with community, my hope is to use this platform to inspire others to find joy in their own unique version of a healthy and active lifestyle.

When I am not in the office, you can typically find me walking Greenville's great trails with my german shepherd, Eden, working at our local Farmer's Market or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen!
